One of my Twitter friends, @rusnivek made a post about how he was planning on taking one FEMA ISP class per day to cover some of his interests.  Those areas that he’s focusing on are Agricultural and Natural Resources, Emergency Operation Center Operations, Mass evacuation and Law Enforcement.

I mentioned that I though that one per day was an ambitious goal, since some of the ones that I’m taking are rather intensive.  I am an amateur radio guy with plans on getting into Emergency and Disaster Management, so my focus is generally more on the communication and management end.  @rusnivek asked me what I am taking/recommend for communications, but the list is moderately big.  Too big for 140 characters on Twitter, for certain, but that makes for a good blog post.

In no precise order, these are the ones that I am have taken or am planning on taking:

  • IS-22 Are You Ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness
  • IS-55 Household Hazardous Materials – A Guide for Citizens
